Just flushed $300 on a 'universal' boiler gasket kit

The thing was missing half the seals for my specific York-Shipley unit, so I had to run back to the supply house anyway. Anyone know a good supplier for older model parts that doesn't just sell generic junk?

Found a guy on eBay who only sells NOS gasket sets for old oil burners. He had the exact York-Shipley diagram for my unit. Took some digging but he had all the weird shaped seals. You still running into that missing parts problem?

That "one piece of paper" thing is so true. It reminds me of the time I tried to fix an old window fan. The motor was fine, but the little fiber washer that spaced the blade had crumbled. Spent a week trying to find the right thickness before I just stacked a bunch of washers from the hardware store. It works, but it sounds like a helicopter taking off now.

My buddy's boiler repair hit a wall because the original gasket for a 1978 Peerless circulator pump had turned to dust. He ended up cutting his own from a sheet of neoprene, but the fit was never quite right. Those old diagrams are the only way to get the weird curves and port holes exact. It's crazy how one piece of paper can be the difference between a running system and a parts donor.
