That time we waited half a day for a courier with the wrong part number

Our crew was stuck on a job because we needed a specific pressure valve gasket. The shipping slip said it would arrive by 10 AM, but the driver got lost and didn't show until after 3 PM. When he finally got there, he handed over a box labeled for plumbing fixtures instead. We all just stared at it and then burst out laughing because what else could you do.

Plumbing fixtures?! After waiting all day for a pressure valve gasket? That’s next level. I can’t even picture what that mix-up looks like in the warehouse. Like, how do you grab a box of sink parts for an industrial job? The driver must have been just as confused handing that over.

Yeah, "how do you grab a box of sink parts for an industrial job" is the real question. I read a warehouse worker's blog once where they said the pick lists can be so vague that you're just grabbing whatever matches a code, not thinking about the actual item. So the person pulling it probably never even looked at the label.
