TIL the old timers used a piece of chalk on the tube sheet instead of my $60 marker, and it actually works better

I used to roll my eyes at that stuff. Figured the fancy paint markers were worth every penny because they lay down a nice thick line and don't smear. Then a guy on my crew handed me a piece of plain chalk one day and the line was easier to see on the metal and wiped right off with a rag when I was done. Now the $60 markers just sit in my box while I grab chalk from the bin.
