Told the foreman his weld prep was wrong at the Shell refinery job
We were on a 48-inch steam drum at the Shell Martinez refinery. Foreman wanted to skip the bevel grind to save time. I told him that was a bad call because the UT test would catch it. He got pissed but I stood my ground. Sure enough the inspector flagged the first two welds and we had to burn them out anyway. Has anyone else had to argue with a lead over skipping prep?

Learned that one the hard way myself (and blushed for weeks after).

Three weeks! I blushed for three whole weeks after mixing up a client's name with their dog's name in an email. I still cringe thinking about it, and it happened two years ago. My boss actually laughed about it eventually, but the memory still makes my face go hot. I even double check every single email now before I hit send, no matter how casual it is. It's wild how one little embarrassing moment can stick with you like that!
