Tried a new welding rod on some 1/4 inch plate last job
We had a big patch job on a boiler in Toledo, and I brought some 7018 rods I hadn't used before. My partner stuck with his usual 6010s. After three days, my welds on the high-stress seams were holding way better with less spatter and cleanup. The difference was the flux coating; it just ran smoother in the overhead positions. What's your go-to rod for boiler plate repair?

Proves the right tool changes everything.

Totally see this with cooking, lol. Used to struggle with a dull knife and now chopping takes half the time. Makes you realize how much we just put up with the wrong stuff.

Spot the same thing with old phone chargers that barely work. You waste ten minutes just to get a trickle of power, then finally buy a new one. Suddenly you remember how things are supposed to function.

Yeah man, honestly I used to think "eh it still works good enough" with old junk like that. But after finally replacing a charger that was on its last legs, it hit me how much frustration I was just tolerating for no reason. Makes you wonder what else I'm putting up with that could be way easier.
