Why does nobody admit a 3/8 inch tube roll costs you the whole job
I told a crew in Gary they could skip the reamer on 2 inch pipe and we failed hydro the next morning, 4 hours of rework. Anyone else get pushback when they slow the job down to do it right the first time?
I used to be the guy pushing crews to move faster, figured a quick pass with the grinder was close enough. Then we had a 3/4 inch line on a Friday afternoon job in Hammond, skipped the ream because we were chasing daylight. Monday morning hydro leaked at three joints, and the boss stood there watching us cut and redo every one. That weekend cost way more than the hour of reaming would have. Now I tell the young guys the same thing: the burr you can't see is the one that gets you. Call me slow if you want, but I'd rather be slow than back out there redoing it on my own time.
