Hot take: I ran our book club for 2 years before I realized I was killing every discussion
Honestly I used to open every meeting by giving my full take on the book first, and for 2 years I couldn't figure out why everyone just nodded and agreed with me. Last Tuesday we read a short novel and I was running late, so Maria started things off instead and the room talked for 40 minutes without me saying a word. Turns out I was setting the answer every time and nobody wanted to argue with the guy who picked the book. Now I go last on purpose, and our next pick is up for grabs if anyone has a title that sparks a good fight.
