I bought the 'annotated edition' of our book club pick for $45...
The notes were just the author's Wikipedia page copy-pasted, and we all agreed it added zero to our debate. Anyone have a good source for actual literary analysis that doesn't cost a fortune?

My library's free online literary databases saved me.

Seriously, libraries are the only reason I finished my degree. @hollybrown is totally right. I read an article about how many people don't even know their library card gives them that stuff for free. It's not just books, it's all those academic journals and databases. Paying for a paper is a total waste when the info is right there. You just have to log in through the library website.

Wait, they charged you forty-five dollars for a copy-pasted Wikipedia page? That's honestly kind of a scam. I'd be asking for a refund, that's just lazy. For real analysis, I've had good luck just searching the book title plus "PDF essay" or "lecture notes." A lot of professors put their course stuff online for free.
