Just changed my mind about the main character in 'The Midnight Library'
My friend in the club said 'Nora wasn't indecisive, she was just stuck in a grief loop,' and that clicked for me. Anyone else have a book take that flipped for them?

My buddy Dave spent years calling Gatsby a phony. He reread it last month and now says he's just a guy who believed too hard in a story he made up. It's funny how a book can change when you do.

Ever try reading a book you hated in high school again as an adult? I did that with Catcher in the Rye and it hit totally different, like I finally got the joke. What book changed for you on a second read?

I totally get what you mean. The Crucible was like that for me. In high school I just saw it as this boring play about old fashioned witch trials. Reading it again in my thirties it hit me like a ton of bricks. It's really about fear and how people twist the truth to hurt each other. That part about neighbors turning on neighbors felt too real after seeing it happen online and in real life. Sometimes you just have to live a little before you can really hear what a book is saying.

Dave's right, Gatsby just built a better lie than the rest of them.
