My book club fought for an hour over whether audiobooks count as 'reading' - what's the consensus here?
Half of us say listening is totally different from eyes-on-page processing, the other half says comprehension is the same either way. Where do you land on this debate?

Started listening to audiobooks during my commute last year and honestly my comprehension is just as good as when I read print books. We tested it in my own book club by having half of us listen and half read the same chapter, then we all discussed the details together and nobody could tell who did what. The real test is whether you actually absorbed the story and can talk about it, not what your eyes were doing while you absorbed it.

Ugh that sounds exhausting honestly. I've been exactly where you are and it's frustrating when people gatekeep how stories get into our brains. If you can discuss themes and plot points and character arcs then you read the book, doesn't matter if your eyes or ears did the work.
