My sister told me to skip the book club pick and just read the summary, worst advice I ever took
She said it in January when I was swamped with work and our club was doing a 600 page doorstop that I wont name. I did it, showed up to the meeting in Ferndale, and got asked one question about a chapter 12 scene that apparently changes everything. I sat there nodding while 9 other people argued about it for 40 minutes. The leader even said my take was interesting because I was the only one who read it fresh, and I had to admit I read a summary on my phone at lunch. Now the group wants to do a no spoilers rule and I feel like the reason. Has anyone else been burned by taking the shortcut and does your club actually catch it?
