Our book club picked a thriller and the whole discussion went sideways

We read 'The Silent Patient' for our meeting last Tuesday. I thought we'd talk about the twist, but two members got into a big fight about unreliable narrators. One person said the book cheated readers, and the other called that view lazy. It got so loud the cafe manager asked us to quiet down. Has your group ever split this hard over a book's ending?

yeah it's wild how a book can split a room like that. I see the same thing happen with movie endings or even news stories now, people just pick a side and dig in.

Remember when my buddy's book club almost broke up over a twist?

the cafe manager asked us to quiet down" is so real. I used to get mad at "cheating" twists too, but a messy book club fight over one actually made me get why authors do it. It means the book made people FEEL something.
