Rant: Our book club's 'no spoilers' rule completely fell apart last night
We were discussing 'Project Hail Mary' and someone just blurted out the entire ending twist. It happened right after we took a break for coffee. Has anyone else had a group recover from a major spoiler incident like this?

Ruby_wright makes a good point about scale. Honestly the worst part is now you can't trust anyone in the group not to do it again, which kills the vibe for future books.

Wait, did they actually spoil the whole ending twist or just a key part? There's a big difference between ruining the entire final act and just mentioning one surprise. How did your group handle it in the moment?

Totally ruined the final act, ruby_wright. My friend did the same thing.

Did your group at least call that person out right then and there? Because silence just makes it worse and gives them the wrong idea. I've seen this happen before and the only way to stop it is to be direct in the moment. If you let it slide, every future book becomes a minefield where nobody knows what's safe to talk about. The whole trust thing daniel_cooper34 mentioned is real, and once it's broken, it's really hard to rebuild. Honestly, the best move is to have a quick group chat rule about spoilers going forward, no exceptions.
