TIL my club's vote to ditch a book at page 50 was actually the best thing we ever did
I used to push for finishing every pick no matter what, until our group in Phoenix bailed on a 700 page slog after 2 weeks and had our best talk in a year. Now we DNF at 100 pages if nobody's hooked, and I need someone to tell me that's not just us being lazy.

Half the point of a book club is pushing through stuff you wouldn't pick on your own, and quitting at page 100 just means you only ever read what already feels easy. Isn't the real test whether the group can stick with something hard together?
