TIL our book club's 'quick' vote on the reading list took 3 weeks to settle
We spent 14 days arguing over whether to read a 900 page fantasy series or a 200 page memoir, and it only ended when our moderator threatened to pick a cookbook instead, has anyone else had a simple poll spiral like that?

We started using ranked choice voting in our club last year after a 45 minute fight over two sci-fi novels. Everyone lists their top 3 and the one with the most points wins. Takes like 5 minutes now and nobody feels like their pick got ignored.

That 45 minute fight over two sci-fi novels sounds way too familiar. Our group spent almost an hour on one book once, and half of us didn't even finish it. Ranked choice fixed that fast, since your backup picks still count when your first one gets knocked out. Now we just vote and move on.
