Can we talk about that $40 bone folder I bought and how it split my leather clean in half?
I dropped forty bucks on a fancy polished bone folder from an online craft store and the first time I used it to crease a heavy book spine, it just snapped like a twig, so has anyone else had luck with cheap plastic ones instead?

Wait, you spent $40 on a bone folder and it snapped? That's brutal. Honestly I've been using the same cheap plastic one from a dollar store for like three years now and it's still going strong, no joke.

@wright.leo that dollar store thing is wild, I always figured cheap plastic ones would be garbage but after my $40 bone folder snapped I might have to give it a shot. I used to think expensive tools meant better quality but this experience totally changed my mind. My plastic ones from the craft store bend a bit but they've never actually broken on me. Maybe I just got unlucky with that fancy one, but seeing how long yours has lasted makes me reconsider.

Huh, I actually see it a bit different. I've got a mid-range bone folder that cost about $25 and it's held up for years through heavy use. The cheap plastic ones always left scratches on my paper and left this weird static charge that made everything stick together. Maybe you just got a dud from a bad batch, because a real bone folder shouldn't snap that easily. I'd try contacting the store for a replacement before giving up on them entirely. Plastic ones work fine for basic stuff but they just don't have the same smooth glide for precision work.
