Finally got my press screws aligned right after years of fighting them

Was at the Atlanta book arts fair last month and an old timer showed me this trick with washers on the bottom plate. Been chasing that wobble for 3 years, now my spines are actually coming out even. Anyone else dealt with crooked press screws forever?

Washers fixed mine too... life changing fix honestly.

... I see it different, @anthonelson. Washers just mask the real problem. If your press screws are that crooked from the start, you're fighting the frame or the threads, not the alignment. I'd rather shim the platen than throw washers under the bottom plate.

But isn't adding washers just as much of a patch as shimming the platen would be...
