Lost $60 on a cheap bone folder that scratched three of my covers
I picked up a $6 plastic bone folder from a craft shop on Main Street last month because my good one went missing. Got through two signatures of a rebind before I noticed it was leaving deep gouges along the spine folds. Tried to smooth them out with a damp cloth and made it worse, so the whole cover piece was a loss at about $60 for the leather and board. Ordered a real teflon folder the same day and it has been fine since. Anyone have a way to salvage light creases on bookboard, or is it just a cut and restart every time?
