Overheard a guy at Michaels saying handmade books are a waste of time when you can buy a journal for $5

I was standing right there in the paper aisle and had to stop myself from pulling out the 1840s ledger I rebacked last week to show him exactly why that $5 store bought thing falls apart in three months, has anyone else had to deal with people acting like bookbinding is pointless?

Bruh, $5 journals are basically a scam at this point. I bought one from a random dollar store and the cover legit peeled off before I even finished the first week of entries, like it was embarrassed to exist. Might as well just staple some napkins together and call it a day, at least those hold up better in a bag.
