TIL a local library is throwing out all their cloth-bound books for rebinding

They're having them done in cheap, glued plastic covers instead. Feels like a crime against the craft. Anyone in the Midwest know a binder who could take on a big institutional job?

Our town did that last year and the new covers fell apart by spring.

Maybe they just got a bad batch or installed them wrong.

Ugh, that's so frustrating. Honestly, it makes me wonder if they stored the covers outside all winter before installing them. Sun and cold can wreck materials even while they're still in the box.

Check with @green.noah, as their town's experience proves cheap covers fail fast.
