TIL my old bone folder was ruining my covers

I used the same cheap plastic bone folder for 3 years, the kind that came in a starter kit. Last week I grabbed my buddy's polished nylon one at his shop in Portland and wow, the difference was night and day. The plastic one left micro-scratches on my book cloth that I always blamed on the material. Switched to the nylon version for my last 4 bindings and the creases are so clean and smooth, no more fighting the tool. Has anyone else upgraded a basic tool and found it fixed a problem you thought was technique?

Tight tool grip matters more than the folder type.

Damn right. Switched folders twice, same grip, zero problems.
