My GPS sent me to a cornfield at 2 AM near Des Moines

Was driving home from a concert last month and my phone said to turn down this random dirt road. Thought it was a shortcut or something. Ended up in the middle of some farmer's field with my headlights on stalks of corn. Had to reverse half a mile in the dark with no signal. Called my friend on speaker to guide me back to the highway. Has anyone else had navigation apps do something this dumb?

You think phones just get lonely and want to drag you into a corn maze at 2 AM? Sounds like your GPS was trying to give you a very unwanted nature tour. Next time I'd just pull over and trust the paper map in the glovebox over the robot that clearly hates you.

Last week my GPS took me down a road that ended at someone's barn with a "no trespassing" sign and three goats staring at me like I was lost. @wren_mitchell I'm starting to think these phones have a sense of humor we just don't get yet. I ended up just turning around and asking a guy on a tractor for directions, old school style.

Honestly I feel like people get way too dramatic about GPS messing up once. It took me to a dead end road that was literally just gravel and a cow pasture last month, but I turned around and got where I was going fine. Paper maps are great and all if you want to sit there trying to fold it back up while your passenger yells at you for missing the exit. It's okay to just laugh it off and try again, no need to declare war on your phone.
