My smart fridge tried to gaslight me into buying a new filter

Last Wednesday my fridge started beeping at 2am with a 'replace water filter' light. I changed it two weeks ago, so I pulled the new one out and it was still clean. Turns out the sensor was just covered in calcium scale from our hard water in Austin. I soaked it in vinegar for an hour and the light went off. Has anyone else had a 'smart' appliance just flat-out lie to them like that?

My LG one did the same thing last summer, told me the filter was at 5% when I had literally just replaced it the week before. I did the vinegar soak too but it came back a month later so I ended up pulling the sensor out completely and just checking the filter myself every few months. It's honestly so dumb that they add these features just to create problems that didn't exist before. The water tastes fine and I know when to change it based on how the flow slows down now. I swear these companies just want you to buy more filters than you actually need.
