Picked the AI detector over my gut feeling, now I second guess every email

I spent hours going back and forth on a customer support reply that sounded too perfect. My gut told me it was a bot, but the grammar was flawless and it referenced my exact order number. Then I ran it through a free detector online and it flagged 87 percent as AI generated. That got me to switch my default stance from skeptical to actually testing things. I still read everything carefully, but now I trust the tool more than my first impression. Has anyone else found detectors to be more reliable than their own instincts with these things?

Man, my gut feeling has been wrong so many times I should probably rename it to 'bad idea detector'. Now I run everything through a checker too, just to keep my ego in check.
