Remember when you could just tell a person was real by how they typed?

Back in 2018 on a local news forum, a guy kept posting these perfect responses with zero typos and every comma in exactly the right place. Now I just assume anyone who doesn't slip up once is a bot. Has anyone else caught themselves double-checking old comment threads?

Sure, "anyone who doesn't slip up once is a bot" is a bit paranoid. I type clean on purpose because I proofread before hitting send, not because I'm a bot. I've seen people with flawless grammar in long threads back in 2016 who were just retired English teachers. Plenty of folks just care about how they present themselves online, and that's not fake.

@colescott I saw a post once saying most people who type perfectly are either bots or former English majors, and that makes sense to me.

lmao I actually used to be one of those people who thought perfect typing = bot. But then I started remembering this old dude on a gaming forum back in 2015 who would write these huge strategy guides with zero mistakes. Turns out he was just a retired librarian who typed slow and checked everything twice. Now I look closer at the actual content instead of just the grammar. Like if someone has a personality in their posts and responds to stuff naturally, I don't care if they use perfect punctuation or mess up every other word.
