Serious question, that TikTok bot that kept replying to my posts for 6 months straight

I used to think that @daily_music_picks account on TikTok was just a regular person who really liked indie bands. They replied to my comment about a 2018 Phoebe Bridgers track within 2 minutes, every single time, for months. Then last week I noticed their responses always used the same 3 sentence structures and never actually answered questions. That's when I realized it was a bot, not a fan. The timeline was 6 months of daily replies before I caught on. Has anyone else been fooled by a bot that seemed too enthusiastic to be fake?

Yeah "too enthusiastic to be fake" is a dead giveaway. Block and report.

Wait, is it really that serious? Someone being too nice or enthusiastic online doesn't automatically mean they're a scammer. I've met people who are just genuinely friendly and get excited about things, and they probably come off as fake to folks who are used to everyone being sarcastic and cynical. Plus, some scammers are actually really good at acting casual and low-key, so spotting them based on "too much enthusiasm" seems like a shaky way to judge. I get being careful, but blocking someone just because they're peppy feels a bit harsh.

Tried chatting them up a bit and they slipped up fast.
