Spent an hour at the Grand Canyon visitor center watching people interact with the fake ranger

Walked in to ask about trail conditions. Saw a woman having a full conversation with this AI hologram ranger. She asked it 3 times about bathroom locations before she got suspicious. I stood there for 10 minutes. Nobody else even blinked. The giveaway was the eyes. They don't track movement right in those things. Has anyone else seen these installations acting too human?

...and the thing is, I wonder how many people are just too polite to call it out? Like that woman talking about bathrooms, maybe she felt awkward accusing a hologram of being fake. What was the giveaway for you besides the eyes? I've seen those things in museums and the voice pitch always strikes me as just a little too perfect.

Read somewhere those things are trained on old park ranger transcripts... kinda creepy.
