That LinkedIn 'influencer' post got me wondering if they're even real anymore
I used to actually enjoy scrolling LinkedIn for job tips and industry news, but lately every third post reads like a bot wrote it. Yesterday some guy claimed he 'cried happy tears' after landing a $47,000 contract and then dropped 3 hashtags. Like, who talks like that in real life? I even checked his photo and it had that weird blurry background AI vibe. Has anyone else started second-guessing those overly emotional success stories?

Two hashtags minimum and a fake crying story every single time.

Had a friend who posted about her sick cat with this long story about how she rescued it from a shelter and it was her emotional support animal. Turned out the cat was fine, she just wanted attention for her new Instagram page. I unfollowed her after that because it felt gross to use a pet like that for likes. People really do treat these platforms like a script they have to follow.

Hang on, is this really that big of a deal? So she exaggerated a story about her cat. People do this stuff on Instagram all the time. I've seen people pretend their coffee is from a fancy cafe when it's from the gas station down the street or claim they're on vacation when they're just in their backyard with a filter. It's annoying for sure but unfollowing a friend over a cat story feels a little harsh. Maybe she just got caught up in the moment trying to grow her page. It's social media, not a court of law.
