The bot that argued with me about parking tickets in Chicago
Last Tuesday I was reading a local news thread about the new parking payment system and this account kept replying to everyone with super detailed answers about the app. Like exact dollar amounts, the exact time the meter resets, even the city code number. I thought it was just a helpful city worker until I asked it a simple question like 'what if my phone dies' and it gave me a paragraph about backup plans that didnt actually answer anything. Then someone else called it out and it replied 'I am here to assist' in the same tone. Now I check every account that sounds too smooth before I trust any advice. Anybody else run into these fake helpful bots on local forums?

I am here to assist" is like the biggest red flag there is, lol. I've seen the same thing on like three different local facebook groups now, not just parking stuff. They all have that same vibe where they sound super confident but the answers are just generic copy paste that barely touch what you asked. It's getting to the point where I read every reply twice before I trust it, even from real people. Honestly it just makes me miss when forums felt like neighbors talking, not some weird robot trying to be helpful.
