A guy in a Reddit DM said to check profile pics for warped ears, and he was right 8 times out of 10
About two months back I was arguing with some dude in a dating app thread about how to spot fake profiles, and he sent me a DM with one tip: zoom in on the ears in profile pics. I figured it was nonsense, but I tried it anyway on 40 profiles I had swiped on in Chicago over a week. The ones with ears that looked melted or had weird blobs in the middle were almost always bots or catfish, 8 out of 10 times. Normal ears with real cartilage folds and a bit of shadow inside? Real people, every single one. I went back and looked at three matches that had ghosted me and sure enough, all three had those gummy ears. So now I check ears before I even read the bio, and it takes like 2 seconds. Has anyone else tried this, or is there a better body part to zoom in on?
8 out of 10 is a solid hit rate but that's still 2 real people getting tossed for no reason, and ear shape varies a ton with weird lighting or a low res pic. The melted ear thing is probably less about ears and more that AI image tools and bad filters mangle small details like ear folds first. So checking ears works, but it's catching bad edits more than catching fake people, if that makes sense.
