Found out 1 in 3 accounts in a dating app review I read was a bot, and it stung
I was digging through an old writeup from a data guy named Jeff in San Francisco from around 2022, and he went through about 10,000 profiles on a dating app by hand. He found close to a third showed bot signs like copy pasted bios and photos that came from stock sites. Back when I first got online in the 2000s you could just look for bad grammar and move on, but these fakes write cleaner than my coworkers now. What tells you a profile is fake these days, is it the pics or how fast they reply?
