Question about spotting bots on dating apps based on how fast they reply

I matched with a girl on Hinge last week and she replied in like 3 seconds to every message. At first I thought wow she's really into me but then it felt weird. No typos, no hesitation, just instant perfect responses even at 2am. I started thinking no human replies that fast consistently for hours. So I threw in a random question about a local coffee shop that closed last year to see if she'd catch it. She answered like it was still open which was a dead giveaway. Has anyone else used specific local knowledge to filter out bots on dating apps or do you have a better trick for this?

I matched with someone on Bumble a few months back who had that same instant reply thing going on, and it drove me crazy trying to figure it out. I mean, 3 seconds at 2am with no typos and perfect grammar, come on. That coffee shop trick you used is pretty clever actually, but I see it a bit different. I think a lot of people who aren't bots just happen to be quick typers or have notifications on for specific apps, especially if they're lonely or bored at odd hours. I had a friend who was accused of being a bot because she had really fast thumbs from years of texting, and she got pretty defensive about it. For me, the real giveaway isn't speed but the way they respond to emotional stuff or things that need a personal opinion, like asking what they think about a movie you both saw. If they dodge those or give generic answers, that's a bigger red flag than just being fast.

Totally agree about the emotional stuff being the bigger tell. I had one match who could fire back a quick "haha yeah" or "lol same" in like 2 seconds but when I brought up my dog passing away she just ghosted for a week then came back with "sorry been busy." Like that's not how a real person handles that conversation. The generic answers thing is spot on too - if every response could fit into a fortune cookie that's way more suspicious than fast typing.
