Rant: everyone says bots always use perfect grammar, and I think that advice is backwards in 2025
I was scrolling through a YouTube video about engine rebuilds last Tuesday and 40 plus comments all had perfect commas and no typos at all, and people in the replies kept saying "see, bots write too clean." Here is my issue with that rule. Real people type fast on phones and mangle stuff, sure, but bots get better every few months, so plenty of them now copy how we actually text, lowercase, missing apostrophes, the works. I got fooled by one on a dating app in Denver two months back. The profile wrote "im just a chill guy who likes hiking n coffee," super casual, and it turned out the pics came from a stock site in Eastern Europe. Clean writing is one clue, but it is a weak one on its own. What actually catches them for me is timing, like replying in 2 seconds at 3am every single time. Has anyone else flipped their checklist around like this, or am I overthinking it?
Get what you're saying about the grammar thing being a weak clue. Bots are way better now at sounding messy and casual, so judging by commas alone is pretty much useless these days. That dating app story is rough, the "chill guy who likes hiking n coffee" stuff is exactly what they copy now. Timing is the big one for me too. A reply at 3am in two seconds flat is a huge red flag no matter how sloppy the typing looks. Real people sleep, or at least they don't answer every single message like a machine. Hang in there, you're not overthinking it, you're just paying attention to the stuff that actually matters.
