That $40 'AI girlfriend' app I tried was just a bot with a script and bad memory
I downloaded this app called SoulMate AI after seeing ads on Instagram promising real conversation and connection. Paid $40 for the premium tier and within 2 hours the bot forgot my name three times and kept recycling the same three topics like a broken record. It's actually kind of scary how people might mistake these for real humans on dating apps or Twitter. Has anyone else tested one of these apps and figured out how they try to sound real but fail?

Went in thinking it'd be fun to see what the fuss was about, but honestly it just creeped me out. The second time it forgot my name I felt like I was talking to a broken jukebox, not a person. It recycled the same three get to know you questions like it had never asked them before. That's what got me worried, because if you're lonely or vulnerable, that fake warmth might actually feel real for a bit. I used to roll my eyes at people saying AI could trick you, but now I get it. Have you caught any apps trying to pass off bots as real people in chat?
