My ficus benjamina lost 80% of its leaves overnight in Minneapolis last January

I moved my ficus from the living room to the hallway to get it away from a drafty window, and within 3 days it dropped leaves like crazy. Turns out the hallway had a heat vent right above it that blasted hot dry air straight down on the canopy. I had to put it in the bathroom with the shower running twice a day just to get it to stop shedding. Has anyone else had a ficus freak out from a sudden change in humidity?

Heat vent did that to my peace lily once. Instant brown crisp city.

Man that's brutal. Peace lilies are supposed to be tough but put them by a heat vent and they fold like wet cardboard. I've seen it happen to a friend's plant and it went from lush to looking like it got hit with a hairdryer on high in about two days. Maybe it's just me but those vents are basically little assassins for anything soft and leafy. @alice928, you must have been so mad watching that thing crisp up right before your eyes.
