My garden is better off without botany experts dropping by
I used to let serious plant lovers visit my backyard, thinking they'd appreciate it. Instead, they'd point out every weed and call my mulch choice lazy. Last summer, a woman spent twenty minutes explaining why my tomato plants were doomed due to spacing, which was just annoying. Now I keep my gardening to myself and enjoy the quiet without unsolicited advice. The plants are growing fine, maybe not award-winning, but they're alive and that's enough for me. I've found more peace in ignoring perfect botany rules and just watering when I remember. Honestly, sometimes too much knowledge just takes the fun out of having a green space. My backyard is messy, but it's mine, and I don't need a lecture with my lemonade.

Oh man, this hits home... reminds me of @thomas441 and his fence paint critic. Some people just can't see a garden without turning it into a homework assignment. Like, congratulations, you know the scientific name for dandelions, but I just wanted to grow some zucchini. It's crazy how a little bit of knowledge makes some folks need to prove it everywhere, even in someone else's backyard. My plants are happy with my lazy way, and their "doomed" tomatoes probably made better sauce than their perfect ones ever did.

Reminds me of my neighbor who tried to tell me I was using the wrong kind of paint on my fence last year. He went into this whole thing about wood grain and weather proofing, and I'm just thinking, buddy, it's a fence. It's holding up fine and it's not even your fence.

Last year, my uncle used cheap paint on his shed and it peeled in six months. @thomas441, your neighbor might have a point about weather proofing because wrong paint can let water in and rot the wood fast. It's not his fence, but good advice can come from anywhere. Spending a bit more now could save you from replacing the whole fence later. Have you checked if your paint is really holding up against rain?
