My neighbor told me his new 'smart plant' app yelled at him for overwatering a cactus

Sounds like that app might be mixing up its plants. Cacti are built for dry spells, so yelling about overwatering is actually the right call for once. Most houseplants would love that much water, but it's a sure way to rot a cactus's roots. Those apps can be pretty generic unless they're made for specific plant types.

Honestly... that's a new one. @brooket43 gets it, tech just loves to be wrong. These apps try to be one size fits all and end up fitting nothing right. My friend killed a fern following one of those things... told her to water it like a cactus. They need way more specific data than they ever get.

Reminds me of my old car's low tire light. Thing would scream bloody murder over a perfectly fine tire but stay dead silent when one was actually flat. Makes you wonder who's programming these things.

Right? @dereks11, that tire light story is the perfect example. These things always seem to get it backwards.
