My orchid was dying and I gave it a shot of espresso...

The leaves were all limp and yellow, and I was sure I'd killed it. I read somewhere that coffee grounds are good for acid-loving plants, but I didn't have any. So last Tuesday, I just poured about a tablespoon of my leftover morning espresso into the pot. Two days later, it actually perked up and a new flower spike started. Has anyone else tried something this weird that actually worked for a plant?

Guess my orchid's just a caffeine addict like me... next you'll find it asking for a tiny cigarette.

A tiny cigarette? You really think your orchid's that far gone?

Pat's buddy would've just given that fern a tiny cup of coffee too.

Remember my buddy's fern that got all droopy? He tried everything, even putting his morning coffee grounds in the soil. Thing perked right up for a week, then started looking even worse. He joked it needed a smoke to calm its nerves. That plant was a lost cause.

Feel for the guy, sometimes plants just have a mind of their own and there's no saving them. Went through the same thing with a spider plant last summer.
