Showerthought: I used to water my orchids every single morning without fail

Switched to once a week after a dry spell last summer and they actually doubled their blooms. I thought more water meant happier plants, but I was just drowning them slowly. Anyone else overwater their houseplants for years before realizing it?

Right?! It's wild how our brains just assume more care equals better results. I did the same thing with my aloe plant, watered it like every other day thinking I was being a good plant parent. Nope, it basically turned into green soup. Now I just water it when I remember, maybe once a month, and it's honestly the happiest it's ever been.

You ever just have that moment where you realize you've been doing something completely backwards for years? lol I was the same way with my succulents, drowning them every couple days cause I thought they were thirsty. Switched to a "ignore them for two weeks" strategy and they went from mushy and sad to actually looking healthy and plump. Sometimes our instincts are just wrong, man.

Gotta love how the universe smacks you with the obvious lesson when you're not looking. It's like how I used to crank the AC all summer thinking it'd make me feel less tired, but really it just dried out my sinuses and made me grumpy. Sometimes less is just more, even when you think you're being helpful.
