Spider ivy doing great with rare waterings, but my friends hate it
I only give it a drink when the dirt is completely dry. It's never looked better, which goes against all the advice I hear. Why is everyone so scared to let things thirst a bit?

Your 'rare waterings' method is spot on (mine flourished the same way) despite what friends say.

My grandma's aloe vera thrived on neglect for decades in her sunny kitchen.

Stop watering it so much, honestly. Mine was drowning until I switched to rare waterings, and now it's happy as can be in a sunny window.

Honestly, it's the same with my jade plant! I went on a two-week trip and forgot to ask anyone to water it. Came back to the driest soil ever, and the thing had put out a bunch of new, happy little leaves (it was wild). I feel like a lot of plant care advice is just people being nervous and overdoing it.
