TIL a specific flower fact from a local grower
She told me I was overwatering my peonies in the spring, which was why they looked weak... I cut back to watering them just once a week and they bounced back in a month. Anyone else have a simple watering tip for a specific plant?

My lavender started doing way better when I stopped watering it so much. I mean, they're from the Mediterranean, so they really like it dry. I only give mine a good soak maybe every two weeks if there's no rain.

Good point about less water, @drew_rivera, but every two weeks might still be too much for a lot of plants. It really depends on your soil and the weather. If the dirt holds water or it's humid, that schedule can still cause root rot. The key is letting the ground get completely dry all the way down before you even think about watering again. Sometimes that takes three weeks or more.

Wait, three weeks without watering really hasn't killed your plants @adamt84? That seems like forever for most things I've tried to keep alive! I guess it makes sense for succulents and lavender though, since they hate having wet feet. The total dry out method is probably why my rosemary is finally thriving after years of me drowning it every week. What kind of soil do you have that holds water that long?

Right? I killed so many succulents by sticking to a schedule before I learned to just check the dirt.
