Warning: My area's push for wildflower lawns over grass is causing arguments. Eco-friendly or a mess? Let's hear it.

I mixed clover and wildflowers into my grass last year. It looks fine and I only have to mow once a month.

Are we saving the bees or just starting neighborhood wars? My grandma's perfect grass lawn looks nice, but it's basically a green desert for bugs. Let the flowers grow and save the drama for something that matters.

Wait, aren't some of those perfect lawns just clover now though? I see a ton of people mixing it in for the bees... my neighbor's lawn is basically half clover and it's still green, just way less boring than grass. It's a good middle ground if you don't want full flower chaos.

My uncle in Vermont switched his whole yard to clover and the local beekeepers say his spot is a major stop for three different hives now. I get what @brian_baker is saying about green deserts, but calling it a neighborhood war feels like a stretch. Most people just don't know how easy it is to help... a few clover patches or some native flowers along the fence line makes a real difference. It's not about letting everything go wild, just making a little room.
