Why does nobody talk about hitting 100 species on my balcony in Columbus?
I started keeping a simple list of every plant I could grow on my 6 by 10 foot balcony three summers back, mostly herbs, succulents, and whatever seeds my neighbor handed me. Last month the count hit 100 species, and I was honestly shocked because I figured I had maybe 40 or 50 at best. People online love to say you need a yard or a greenhouse to grow a real collection, and I just do not buy that anymore. My whole setup is a mix of dollar store pots, a $15 watering can, and a plastic shelving unit from a garage sale on High Street. Has anyone else tracked their species count in a tiny space, and what number surprised you?
