Come on, a little excitement is what makes chimney work fun. If you can't handle almost dropping a stack, you're probably not pushing yourself hard enough on the job.

Totally with you @kellygrant, almost dumped a whole stack myself last summer when a rotted bracket gave way on an old Victorian. Heart was racing but nothing beats that adrenaline rush when you catch it just in time.

Felt that one in my gut just reading it. I once nearly dropped a stack because I forgot to tighten a clamp properly and spent the rest of the day calling myself a dozen different kinds of stupid. Good reminder that we all make bonehead mistakes sometimes.
