Best lay of my life last Tuesday, 900 blocks in 6 hours and the mortar was perfect all day
So last Tuesday me and my guy Dave were on this house out in Fairview, nothing special, just a straight run on the back wall. Weather was about 62 degrees with a light breeze, which if you lay brick you know is basically a gift from god compared to the 95 degree days we had in July. We had 900 blocks to set and the mortar was mixed perfect all day, not one batch too wet or too dry, which almost never happens when you're rushing. I was hitting my line dead on every course and Dave kept the mud coming right when I needed it, no standing around waiting. We knocked the whole thing out in 6 hours and the wall was plumb within an eighth over 40 feet, I checked it twice because I didn't believe it myself. My back wasn't even screaming at the end of the day which is the real miracle here. Does anyone else get those days where everything just clicks and you wonder why every day can't be like that?
Fairview in October sounds nice but 900 blocks in 6 hours means you laid 150 an hour which is flying for a back wall with corners. Are you sure Dave wasn't sneaking in some half blocks on the courses you weren't looking at?
