Heard a foreman in Tulsa say he only lays to the line on straight runs

Tried it on a 40 foot garage wall last Tuesday and my corners came out dead on for once (no more chasing the line around the bend). Curious if anyone else drops the line on long stretches or if I'm just late to the party?

Man, I read a thread on a masonry forum a while back where a guy swore by this on anything over 20 feet. He said the line is only good for telling you where to START, not for steering every course. I tried it on a long shop wall last month and my top course landed right where the string wanted it. The trick for me was getting the first and last course set dead plumb before I ever pulled a line between them. String stays tight the whole run too, no sag in the middle throwing you off. You're not late, most guys just never get told.
