I finally gave up on that new quick-set mortar mix everyone's been pushing

Tried it on a small patio job in Springfield last month, mixing a 60-pound bag exactly like the bag said. The stuff set up way too fast in the heat, maybe 15 minutes, and I lost a whole batch. Had to chip it out of the wheelbarrow with a cold chisel. Switched back to my regular Type S for the rest of the job and had zero issues. Is there a specific temperature range where that quick-set stuff actually works right?

The bag instructions are a baseline, not a bible. You have to adjust for conditions. That quick-set is fantastic for fast repairs if you manage the water temperature and work in smaller batches. Blaming the product for a workmanship issue is a cop out.

Exactly like the bag said" is where you went wrong in that heat.

Wait, so are you saying the instructions on the bag are actually wrong for hot weather? Like if it says "cook for 10 minutes," do you have to cut that time down because the sun is making everything way hotter? I burned so many things at my last summer cookout following the box.
