I was working on a south facing wall and the dark bricks were too hot to handle. I think it makes the mortar dry faster. Do you have tips for working with dark bricks in the sun?
Dark bricks are brutal in the sun. Have you tried spraying them with water regularly? It cools them off and actually slows the mortar drying, which gives you more time to work. I always schedule brick work for early morning or shade periods. The temperature difference is real, and it can mess up your mortar if you're not careful. Gloves help, but wetting the bricks is the best fix.
Is it really that much hotter though? I mean, all bricks get warm in direct sun, so idk if dark ones are a special problem. Maybe just spray them with water or work later in the day.
