My crew in Denver swore by that pink rapid-set mortar for winter work, and I thought it was just hype.

We had to patch a foundation in 20 degree weather last month and the stuff actually set hard in under an hour. What other cold-weather tricks have actually worked for you guys?

Honestly, "set hard in under an hour" is wild for 20 degrees. Did you have to use any special prep with it, like heating the mix water? I'm curious if that's the real trick.

Nah, heated water is totally overkill for that temp. The pink bag stuff has accelerators mixed in that do all the work for you. Just mix it with regular tap water and you're good.

Mark_green might be onto something with heated water, but honestly the prep work matters more. We always warm the surface with a torch first, idk maybe it's just me but that makes a bigger difference. The pink stuff works fine with cold water if the concrete isn't frozen solid.
