I picked up a self leveling laser level for around $230 back in March because I was sick of fighting with a bubble level on a three story chimney rebuild in Aurora. First day out I hated it, the line was impossible to see in direct sun, and I told the guy at the tool counter I was bringing it back. He said to try it at dusk before I gave up, so I did, and I ended up laying out the whole stack that evening in about 40 minutes with no rechecking. Now I keep it in the truck for every lead flashing and cap course, and my corners come out dead plumb the first time. Anyone else got a tool they wrote off too fast and then ate their words on?
